A new regional partnership between Waikato accountancy firm Vazey Child and business growth hub Icehouse is an opportunity to fast-track the growth of businesses in the region.
Icehouse regional lead Maryse Dinan and Vazey Child director Steve Rae identified synergies between the two organisations and a partnership has been formed including scholarships for Vazey Child’s customers to attend Icehouse business growth programmes. Vazey Child will also partner with Icehouse to host local events for the business community.
Steve said the partnership made perfect sense with both Vazey Child and Icehouse focused on supporting and elevating mid-sized growth businesses.
“We have numerous clients who have been through Icehouse programmes, for example Pact Steel, JWI Earthworks and Duck Island Ice Cream.
We find that business owners who have engaged with Icehouse better understand their business drivers and they are more capable of diving into deeper business conversations. They are more engaged with numbers and cashflow forecasts and that allows us exciting opportunities to deliver significant added value.
We see this partnership as being a fantastic opportunity to expose more clients to Icehouse programmes and give them the platform to improve their businesses.”
Empowering businesses to succeed is a message echoed by the Icehouse which has been enabling the growth of the New Zealand business community since its inception in 2001.
“We are thrilled that this partnership with Vazey Child will enable Icehouse to work alongside more Waikato business owners to grow their businesses faster and smarter,” Maryse said.
More than 200 businesses in the Waikato are Icehouse alumni, having engaged with Icehouse growth and coaching programmes plus finance and sales workshops.
Maryse said the scholarships provided an added incentive to business owners to invest in lifting their own skillsets and to develop the skills in their teams.
“Scholarships are available for the Icehouse flagship Owner Manager Programme, the regional Business Owner Programme for smaller businesses and the Emerging Leadership Programme, for staff who are new to management.”
Steve said improving business owner’s well-being was an important part of the Vazey Child approach and another reason why the Icehouse partnership was important.
“Being confident and on top of things across the business really helps with an owner’s mind set – it’s not just about the numbers and that’s really important for us, particularly at a time when the economy is challenging. The Icehouse brings together business owners in the region as a community and we see this type of connection as vital when it comes to supporting the mental health of business owners.”
