Enterprise in Action Weekend

Enterprise in Action Weekend

The annual Enterprise in Action weekend is run by Young Enterprise Trust, a charity which helps students develop their entrepreneurial skills. The 80 students formed ten teams and were mentored by volunteers from corporate organisations including The Icehouse and Telecom, Icehouse Partner.

The two competitions they took part in were:

  • The Global Enterprise Challenge: a 12-hour challenge which focuses on global issues or problems. Countries from all around the world take part, and teams must answer the challenge via a three-minute presentation. The 2014 challenge was to design an innovative exhibit that can be used to inform communities, government, and the media about the benefit of family farming.

  • The NZ heat of the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (ITC): student teams were asked to develop a market entry strategy plan to export a fish based product to Japan.

We are please to announce that two members from Team Telecom have been selected to represent NZ in Hong Kong in August, and one of those two has been selected to give the student address at the NZ Business Hall of Fame gala dinner.
